CATL starts trial cell production at Debrecen plant

CATL said September 22 it began trial battery-cell production on the first two lines at its Debrecen, Hungary factory after obtaining an occupancy permit in August and completing remaining IPPC permit conditions. The trial is meant to set up and validate equipment before series production; CATL did not give a mass-production date. The company said the Hungarian site will be its largest plant outside China at 100 GWh once all facilities are ready, and that Debrecen has made about 537,000 modules since autumn 2024.
