Tesla named primary OEM for 2,500-truck ZET SCALE order

Catalyst Mobility and the Smart Freight Centre said on September 22 that ZET SCALE selected Tesla as primary OEM for an initial order of 2,500 battery-electric Class 8 trucks, which they called the largest U.S. electric truck order to date. Kenworth, RIDE, and Volvo are named as secondary OEMs that carriers may use; FreightWaves reported that Catalyst did not say how many of the 2,500 trucks will be Tesla Semis. ZET Financial is issuing the purchase order and leasing the trucks, with first-round deployments aimed at 10 U.S. freight hubs including Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, and the Newark-New York area.
