Waymo says it has driven 270 million autonomous miles

Waymo said on September 24 that its latest safety analysis now covers more than 270 million miles of fully autonomous operations through the end of June 2026 across Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco. The company said that, regardless of fault, the Waymo Driver was involved in 82% fewer injury-causing crashes and 95% fewer serious-injury-or-worse crashes than human drivers over the same distance, estimating 841 injury-causing crashes avoided. Its public Safety Impact hub still listed 220.6 million rider-only miles through March 2026, so the June cutoff and 270 million-mile figure come from the September 24 post rather than an updated hub table. The crash-reduction percentages are Waymo's own comparisons.
