Waymo starts fully driverless Detroit runs for employees
Waymo told the Detroit Free Press on Oct. 6 that it is operating fully autonomous vehicles in Detroit, with rides limited for now to employees. Spokesman Chris Bonelli said the company will keep driving downtown and nearby neighborhoods including Corktown, Midtown, Hamtramck and Indian Village, and will open public rides after it validates the technology and local operations. Public rider service has not started.
