Anduril unveils Steelfin interceptor family
Anduril on Oct. 12, 2026 introduced Steelfin, a modular two-stage surface-to-air interceptor family meant to cover cruise, ballistic and hypersonic threats from existing launchers. The company said ballistic tests with representative air vehicles are complete, flight tests begin next year, and short-term output is on the order of several thousand variants a year. Executives told Breaking Defense they aim for about one-third the cost of PAC-3 MSE and full-rate production around late 2028 or early 2029; Anduril declined to say whether Steelfin was selected for the Army Future Interceptor program.
