Nvidia opens cuPotential for atomic simulation in fabs
On Oct. 14, 2026 at SEMICON West, Nvidia said semiconductor companies are adopting CUDA-X libraries, including a new cuPotential library for AI agents that simulate how atoms and molecules interact. Nvidia said early-access tests sped already GPU-optimized workflows by an additional 2-3x, and named Synopsys as an early user. The company also said Lam Research expects NanoVDB to speed some wafer-etch modeling by up to 30x, with that SEMulator3D capability targeted for release by year-end. cuPotential is in early access.
