Rivian expands Redwood battery recycling and storage
On Oct. 14, 2026, Rivian and Redwood Materials said Redwood will recycle Rivian production scrap and end-of-life battery packs and supply stationary storage at the Normal, Illinois plant. Redwood will collect packs through Rivian's service centers and either repurpose them or recycle them, recovering lithium, nickel, cobalt, and copper at rates above 95 percent. The companies said the new scope builds on an April 2026 plan to deploy 10 MWh of storage from repurposed Rivian packs at Normal.
