FCC exempts new Starlink routers from foreign-made router ban

The FCC's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau issued a public notice on July 27 exempting new Starlink router authorizations from a sweeping national-security ban on foreign-made routers, based on a Department of War determination that the devices - made in Texas and Vietnam - do not pose an unacceptable risk. The exemption runs through February 1, 2028, keeping Starlink's hardware supply chain intact alongside similar conditional exemptions already granted to Netgear, Adtran, Calix, Nokia, and Sagemcom.
