EU authorizes Pfizer-BioNTech's updated XFG COVID vaccine
The European Commission granted marketing authorization on July 29 for Pfizer and BioNTech's 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccine formula targeting the XFG variant, for use in people 6 months and older. The approval followed a positive recommendation from the EMA's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use on July 23, and shipments to EU member states were expected to begin shortly to prepare for the fall vaccination season.
