China's MIIT inspects NIO in second wave of EV safety raids
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology inspected NIO's production facilities on July 30-31, 2026, alongside Chery and JAC, examining design and manufacturing consistency and pulling sample vehicles and battery packs for national-standard compliance testing. It is the second wave of factory inspections in a week, after MIIT's first raid caught GAC Aion and XPeng off guard following roughly 210,000 GAC Aion S sedans experiencing battery failures tied to defective CALB LFP cells.
