Japan weighs Palantir and Anduril AI for its Self-Defense Forces
Nikkei Asia reported on August 5 that Japan's government is considering deploying Palantir's Maven Smart System and Anduril's Lattice software in Self-Defense Force command-and-control systems, aiming to speed up decision-making and improve interoperability with US forces. Maven would analyze data from satellites, drones, radar and battlefield sensors to help commanders identify threats and compare responses, while Lattice would fuse sensor data and help control drones; officials are weighing the plan against calls to build a homegrown AI platform, and the proposal has raised concerns in Tokyo about handing Self-Defense Force data to external contractors.
