BYD unveils Xiao Di, its first humanoid robot

BYD publicly unveiled its first humanoid robot, named Xiao Di, at the Di Space brand-experience center in Zhengzhou in early August 2026, joining Tesla, Unitree, XPeng and Chery in the humanoid-robot race. The 1.61-meter, 58.5 kg robot has 31 degrees of freedom, translates between 6 Chinese dialects and 6 foreign languages in real time, and will begin greeting customers and demoing vehicles in Shenzhen and Shanghai showrooms before expanding to about 50 locations.
