Airbus breaks ground on Belfast wing plant expansion for A220

Airbus began construction around August 20 on a 6,221 square meter extension to its Belfast wing facility, the sole global source of A220 wings, adding a third autoclave and new tooling to support ramping A220 output toward 13 aircraft a month by 2028. The project also adds new security infrastructure, electrical substations, an office block, expanded parking and 40 new apprenticeships, with completion targeted for the first half of 2028.
