Airbus reviews sale of its US satellite business

The Financial Times reported on August 29 that Airbus is reviewing its US small-satellite manufacturing operation at Merritt Island, Florida, with a sale among the options under consideration. The site employs more than 200 people, generates several hundred million dollars in annual revenue, and produced more than 600 first-generation OneWeb satellites before Airbus moved next-generation OneWeb production to Toulouse. Airbus confirmed the review and said it is separate from its planned European space combination with Leonardo and Thales; no decision or buyer has been disclosed.
