RivianOS 2 unifies R1 and R2 on one stack
Rivian began rolling out software update 2026.31 on September 4, 2026, bringing RivianOS 2 to the R1 lineup and putting first-generation R1, second-generation R1, and R2 on a single software foundation. The release rebuilds the interface, adds Google Maps and Waze-sourced police and speed-camera alerts, and extends Rivian Unified Intelligence, with R2 and Gen 2 R1 using Unreal Engine 5 and hybrid edge compute while Gen 1 R1 stays on Unreal Engine 4. Connect+ subscribers also get a weather app and mobile live-trip controls.
