NIO signs Eurasia Silk Road Challenge for 2026

NIO signed as official EV partner of the 2026 Silk Road Challenge on September 10. Fourteen battery-electric vehicles, including ES8, ES6, ET5 Touring and Onvo L90 and L80, will leave Xi'an on September 16 for a 41-day, more than 20,000 km drive across 11 countries to Budapest. NIO said the 3,605 km China Silk Road corridor will run 100 percent on battery swap across 33 stations and go fully operational in late September; as of September 10 the company counted 4,079 swap stations, 5,255 charging stations and more than 123 million lifetime swaps.
