BYD recalls 183,211 Qin and Tang cars over brake pads

China's State Administration for Market Regulation said BYD is immediately recalling 183,211 Qin and Tang series vehicles built between 2014 and 2022 because a batch of brake-pedal stopper pads can crack or detach after long use. In extreme cases a detached pad can leave the brake lights on when the pedal is not pressed, sending a false signal to following traffic. Recalls S2026M0116V and S2026M0117V cover 58,026 Tang, 77,846 next-generation Tang DM, 7,023 Tang EV, and 40,316 Qin vehicles; authorized dealers will replace the pad free of charge, and cars that already received the improved part need no further work.
