NIO opens first off-grid solar battery-swap station

NIO said a swap station at the Xingxingxia service area on the G30 in Xinjiang began operating on September 23, 2026 as its first off-grid site, meeting all electricity demand from solar generation and storage without the grid. Co-founder Qin Lihong called it a first real-world test of off-grid swapping; the station uses LONGi Block and H2D equipment and is a node on NIO's 3,605 km Silk Road swap corridor, which NIO still scheduled to connect on September 26 with 33 stations. As of September 23 NIO counted 4,109 swap stations and 5,301 charging stations in China. Treat the world's-first wording as NIO's claim.
