Rivian recalls R1 and R2 vehicles over blocked rear camera

Rivian is recalling US R1T, R1S and R2 vehicles because an on-screen notification can obstruct the rearview camera in reverse, a condition NHTSA filings describe as failing FMVSS 111. AutoGuide, citing the NHTSA filing, put the US campaign at 98,828 vehicles; a Rivian spokesperson told USA TODAY about 100,700 vehicles are potentially affected under recall FSAM-1866, that more than 95% already received a free over-the-air fix, and that owner letters are due November 9, 2026.
