Aurora's driverless safety case passes independent audit

Autonomous-trucking firm Aurora Innovation said on June 25 that Edge Case completed an independent, three-month assessment of its Safety Case, concluding it is well-structured, substantively aligned with industry best practices and actively maintained. Edge Case said it independently chose what to evaluate and measured Aurora's safety claims against NHTSA safety elements and standards including UL 4600, ISO 26262 and the AVSC framework. Aurora, which runs driverless freight on Texas highways with partners such as Hirschbach and Werner, framed the audit as setting a new bar for transparency as it scales its commercial network.
