SpaceX commits exclusively to Nvidia, unveils Starmind orbital AI
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on the company's August 4 earnings call that SpaceX and xAI will go exclusively with Nvidia GPUs for AI compute, citing the Vera Rubin architecture as the best available platform. The companies are jointly developing Starmind AI1, a satellite carrying Nvidia Rubin GPUs and Vera CPUs to run AI workloads from low Earth orbit, with two prototype satellites planned to launch in early 2027 ahead of a larger commercial constellation.
