Claude for Government

Overview

A FedRAMP High-authorized desktop application bringing Claude Code and Claude Cowork to US federal, state and local government agencies, deployable through standard agency MDM platforms without a separate cloud-provider contract. Adds government-specific controls: on-device conversation history, department-level administration, spend/model limits, and a hash-chained audit log.

Launched in public beta July 7, 2026; a limited-time program makes it available to federal agencies for $1/agency (unlimited seats) through August 2026. Distinct from Anthropic's separate, unresolved standoff with the Pentagon/DoD over autonomous-weapons and surveillance guardrails.
